Day
245 — A ginormous opera
03-April-1972
(Montag–Mon.)
TRANSCRIPT
A holiday. So most stores are closed. Couldn’t work
on electronic music, so practiced instead. Not a bad
session. At night, or rather in the afternoon, went
to see Parsifal
by Wagner. I
am not sure whether it is more proper to call it an
opera or an endurance test. But the singing was
extremely good. It was very enjoyable. Still, the
4-1/2 to 5 hours made me tired.
REFLECTIONS
Holiday.
It is some
type of national holiday in Austria. The stores and
school are closed. I take in Wagner’s
Parsifal.
An early performance, since it’s almost 5 hours long.
Enjoyable but long. Very long. Ginormous
in 2009
lingo.
The word ginormous
didn’t
exist in 1972. It probably doesn’t exist in 2009
either.

Parsifal: Act
III, with English subtitles—it’s a film.
