293 — A lazy day with the Meistersinger

TRANSCRIPT
Lazy day. No practicing. Went to church
(Singerknaben). Read a lot (Hesse—wild) and worked a
little on report. Then went to an opera,
Der
Meistersinger von Nuremburg, one of Wagner’s lighter
operas (physically also). Excellent singing (for the
most part). 3rd Act was a very grandiose, beautiful,
choral (horn ensemble) melody. Then the lustig march.
Still a long opera.
REFLECTIONS
Lazy
day. Good for
me. And I get to see the Vienna Boys’ Choir at
church. Glad I’m going to church once again. And a
Hermann Hesse book. I can’t remember much about
Hesse’s writing and will have to read him again.

Meistersinger. A nice
time at Wagner’s Der
Meistersinger von Nuremburg at the
opera. As a band director for middle school in later
years, we used to play the March from this opera. The
kids loved it.
