TRANSCRIPT
John in college yearbook picture – 1971 (U.S.A.
clean cut)
Nothing really new. Just practiced a lot.
Saw “Hair”
at night.
(Because the opera was sold out.) Was interesting and
enjoyable. Not as good as I was expecting it to be,
though.
REFLECTIONS
“Hair”
the rock musical. Hair
was the
big rock musical of the 60s, presenting the hippie
culture, drugs, anti-Vietnam, and nudity to the rest
of the world. The musical was big phenomenon in the
U.S. with its hit songs, “Hair” and “Acquarius.”
And here it is, Hair
is on tour
with a performance in Vienna. I don’t remember if the
Viennese performance had nudity. I don’t believe so.
(As a blogger, never pass up a chance to use the word
nudity in your posts.)
Hippie?
I wasn’t a
hippie in the 60s—remember, I always had to work. In
Vienna, I am growing my hair longer—I was a wannabe
hippie. I
should
have been in Hair.
My photos below could have been an audition.
A
history of John’s hair in Vienna. The photos
below are a history of my hair in Vienna in 1971.
There are plenty of pictures here, and when you see
the progression of growth, you’ll wonder why I
couldn’t afford getting a hair cut. I think I just
wanted to let my hair down (hah, cliche), or perhaps
I was feeling like I was an artist or musician or
composer. See what happens when mom isn’t there to
yell at you? It’s fun to look back at pictures like
these.
