TRANSCRIPT
Did everything except
piano.
The El. Musik score will be one of the most difficult
things to realize.
Saw “Pupofon” again—very good.
REFLECTIONS
It’s
März. It’s only
taken me to March to learn the names of the German
months. After today, I won’t post these month names.
Scoring.
The
picture below is an example of my color-graphed
version of the electronic score of
Fantasy on Broken Glass. Again,
mostly layered sound elements. In the future, I’ll
post a few additional score examples. I wish I could
find my original tapes.
Kaufmann’s
Pupofon.
I see
Prof. Dieter Kaufmann’s amazing live performance
of Pupofon
once again
(See Day 084). Kaufmann uses voice, electronic
manipulation, improvisation, as live theatre and
opera to create an exciting work that catches my
attention. I still don’t remember the girl in the
opening photo.
Lost
composition. Today, in
2009, I briefly speak to a colleague about the need
for “creative outlets” for the things you love the
most. For example, writing music or performing. For
others, it could be writing a novel, or painting. I
regret not remaining in music full time, say as a
college professor and composer. Even though today’s
journal is short, it is full of music. Horn
performance, composition, and attending live
contemporary concerts. How would my life have been
different today if I had completed my doctorate
degree in composition (at Ohio State University in
Columbus) and been more immersed in a creative
environment involving contemporary music and
composition? I wonder.
