Day
324 — Spanish Riding School, Vienna at night
21-Jun-1972
(Mittwoch–Wed.)
TRANSCRIPT
Great day. Mailed my
packages. 4 at 120s each ($50.00). Where did it all
come from?
Bought my ticket for Poland.
Went swimming in the nice
pool near Kahlenburg. Cost only 8s. Good public
services here in Austria.
Went to see the Spanish Riding School. Extremely
impressive and beautiful, the way the horses perform.
(Even though I don’t like the un-freedom principle. I
feel sorry for the horses.)
Then I borrowed a tripod from Herr S. (next room) and
took night pictures. Hope they come out. Nice and
friendly person, Herr S.
Good day.
REFLECTIONS
Preparations.
Looks like I sent some packages to the U.S. in
preparation for going home. Bought a ticket for my
trip to Poland.
Relaxing.
Some swimming. I believe this is the first time I
went swimming recreationally. I should have gone some
more. Why didn’t I hit the sauna every week?
Spanish
Riding School. Finally, I
get to see the famous Lipizzaner stallions perform
with their riders. If you have never seen the Spanish
Riding School, please go. It is in an indoor
special-venue arena off of the Hofburg. I believe
this is where the horses are also kept. Their
“precision” performance and that high-stepping walk
is amazing. There is a great short video posted in
the links.

Palace
In my
youth, I probably wanted these horses to “run free
and wild” and not be controlled by anyone. I suppose
they have a pretty good lives and are well taken care
of.
Vienna
at night. Well,
today I finally learn how I got to take some of the
night pictures I have of Vienna. I’ll post a lot of
them right here. Vienna is very pretty at night. I
apologize for some of the exposures not being the
best. The opening photo is of the Votiv Kirche at
night. Enjoy.
