TRANSCRIPT
What a vacation. All I’m doing is practicing 10–4,
except lunch. Horn and piano are both getting a
workout. I should really play this much all year.
REFLECTIONS
I’m
practicing—a lot. I seem to
be practicing a lot and I’m not complaining (about my
skill level). That’s good. They do say, “Practice
makes perfect.” Some people say, “Practice makes
permanent.” Meaning that you could be reinforcing
lots of bad habits.
I am always amazed at how much music students
practice throughout their school years, and the rest
of their lives. It’s a lot of work. The next time you
hear a great concert pianist, musician, singer, or
orchestra, thank them for practicing a lot. That’s
why they are great. That and natural talent.
Vacation.
I don’t
know what the remark about vacation refers to. Maybe
a winter break? When the Austrians go skiing to
Innsbruck and St. Anton?
