Day 135
— “Letter Home” is finished
15-December-1971
(Wed.)
TRANSCRIPT
Finally finished my “Letter Home.” Now, that it’s all
over, I’m glad I did it. It’s a fairly good job and
at least it’s funny.
Will be definitely going to Innsbruck, Saturday, for
skiing. (I don’t want to think about the money). But
I’m really looking forward to it. A rest.
2nd Heiler concert. This one was perfectly played and
excellent. I’m starting to learn something about
interpretation (I think) and his style. He makes you
love the music—to have the power to do something like
that is really great.
REFLECTIONS
Letter
Home finished. Yea!
Finally, my electronic letter home. It is more corny
than funny. My, how tastes change.
Going
to Innsbruck. I’m
planning on going to Innsbruck for skiing. I am very
enthusiastic about skiing, especially in the Austrian
Alps. Can’t wait. I believe that I planned these by
myself because I always went alone on these trips.
Other students tended to go home for their holidays.
I guess that I am willing to spend a little to go
skiing because it is a once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity. It was—I haven’t been back to the
Austrian Alps since. In retrospect, it was a good
thing to go. Just so you don’t think I’m a
spendthrift, I would stay in student hostels or
hotels which had greatly reduced prices. Once at the
resorts, I wouldn’t party
Anton
Heiler 2x. I see a
second concert of organist, Anton Heiler. Remember,
Anton Heiler is a highly-regarded performer of
Baroque music, noted for his interpretive style. As
always, enjoyable. Listening to and seeing live
performances offers all music students a unique look
at music and artists. Book learning is not enough.
You need to get out there and see live music—look,
listen, learn, do.
